Software Support Policy

The Reinert-Alumni Library supports educational or course-related software for students in the College of Arts & Sciences and College of Business Administration, unless students are better served by a departmental computer lab. Software may include portable devices such as CDs, as well as freely-accessible programs downloaded from the Internet. Depending on the application, the level of support may vary from installation alone to experienced user assistance.

Please allow 1-2 days turnaround for software installations on an individual machine. For classes or groups of students, the Library may install software on a select number of workstations in proportion to the need. For multiple installations, please allow up to 2 weeks turnaround, though frequently we can install software on a shorter notice. For software installation on every public workstation in the Library, please allow 1 month's notice. More time may be negotiated by the Library depending on the time of year.

Software may be uninstalled when the need is past, or at the end of each semester.

The Library reserves the right to withhold support for any product that would compromise network security or that would otherwise disrupt access to the public workstations for general use. The Library further reserves the right to withhold support for software that requires saving user-specific data to the hard drive for ongoing or continued use.

Please contact the Library's PC Network Technician in Access Services for further information or assistance as needed.
